Curriculum Vitae (CV) | Daniel Spreng was one of the directors of CEPE, Centre for Energy Policy and Economics. 1992 he was given the title of a Professor. CEPE's task is to point out opportunities, risks, and obstacles related to developments in energy technology and industry; support necessary transformations; and contribute to energy innovations in business and technology. CEPE seeks to improve the bases for decision-making by business and government with analysis of energy economics and policy issues, the drafting of energy policy options and scientific analysis of energy policy programs. Daniel Spreng was born 1940 in Bern, Switzerland. He did his undergraduate studies in physics at the ETH Zurich (diploma) and his graduate studies in Materials Science at Northwestern University, Evanston IL (Ph.D.). 1970-1974 and 1976-1983 he held various positions at Swiss Aluminium Ltd.; basic research in metals, energy studies, head of the ecology department. In 1975 he was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Energy Analysis, Oak Ridge TN, and in 1984 "Guest of the Rector" at the Institute for Advanced Study in Berlin. 1985 - 1999 he headed the Energy Analysis Research Group.
