Research Field | Isabel Gunther’s interest is in empirical development economics with a particular focus on welfare implications of risk and uncertainty, health and population economics, economics of water and sanitation, and effectiveness of development aid. Most of her research is carried out in sub-Saharan Africa with ongoing research projects in Benin, Ethiopia, Uganda and South Africa. Isabel Gunther has also collaborated with several national and international development organisations, such as the Swiss, French, German and Dutch Development Cooperation, the World Bank, and the African Development Bank. |
Curriculum Vitae (CV) | Isabel Gunther was appointed Assistant Professor of Development Economics in October 2008. Her research team is part of the Center of Development and Cooperation (NADEL) and the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS), Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences. She was born 1978 in Stuttgart, Germany. In 2007 she gained her PhD in Economics from the University of Goettingen, Germany. Isabel Gunther held positions as a Postdoc at the Harvard School of Public Health, Cambridge, USA and as a research associate at the Stellenbosch University, Stellenbosch, South Africa and at the Institut de Recherche de Développement, Paris, France. |
