Curriculum Vitae (CV) | Ludwig Gauckler was Professor for Nonmetallic Inorganic Materials at the ETH Zurich from 1988 to 2012. He served two terms as chairman of the Department of Materials Science.
His interests range from colloids and the processing of ceramics, composites and foams to thin films and micro solid oxide fuel cells (Onebat). He modeled multi-component metal oxide phase equilibria by computer assisted methods (CALPHAD) and invented new processes for ceramic materials and components. His development of all-ceramic teeth bridges for dentistry is used worldwide today. He was president of the Scientific Advisory Board (WBR) of SATW (Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences) from 2001-2004,and serves on the Boards of several companies and is founder and co-founder of two spin-off companies. |
