Ming Shan was trained as an architect at ETH and graduated with a research master's degree at the University of Cambridge. She has more than ten years of design and on-site work experience in the construction industry in Europe and Asia. Prior to her doctoral research at D-BAUG, she practised as a design architect at Heatherwick Studio in London, specialising in Complex Geometry construction, technical design, BIM, design for industrialised construction, sustainable buildings and technical management. Her projects include Hong Kong International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 5, New York Hudson Yards, the Maggie’s Centre Yorkshire, U.K. and the Google Headquarters in California (IPD projects). She has published several articles in newspapers and conferences. Recently, she has been awarded the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for her research visit to Japan in 2021-22, in collaboration with Kyoto University and the Industry partners in Japan. She is also a visiting research associate at the National Taiwan University during her visit to Taiwan for legal and contractual research in 2021.
