Dr. Anton Savov
Staff of Hall, Daniel M.|
Anton is an architect and scientific assistant at the chairs of Prof. Daniel Hall (Innovative and Industrial Construction) and Prof. Benjamin Dillenburger (Digital Building Technologies), ETH Zürich. At ETH Zürich he is working on the 7DayHouse project - a collaborative, fabrication-aware, generative design system. With it, customers and architects create and iterate the design of a fully customized home within one day, maintaining supply-chain continuity for fabrication and delivery within 7 days.
Anton’s research explores the use of games and crowdsourcing in architectural design as a means to balance between algorithmically predefined alternatives and open-ended creativity. Areas of interest:
Anton holds a Master of Arts in Advanced Architectural Design from the Städelschule Architecture Class in Frankfurt under the direction of Ben van Berkel and Johan Bettum and a Diploma in Architecture from UACEG, Sofia, Bulgaria.
Previously Anton held research and teaching positions at the Digital Design Unit (DDU) of the Technical University of Darmstadt and Städelschule Architecture Class. He has developed and taught courses on computational design in architecture at bachelor and master level with more than 200 architecture students and led workshops at SmartGeometry as well as in academic institutions worldwide.
His experience in the architecture industry includes working at Bollinger+Grohmann Ingenieure using computational design techniques to facilitate projects by renowned architects, realizing own projects and art installations with the experimental practice AWARE and founding a startup which offered floor plan generation, search and analysis for the prefab and industrialized construction of houses.
His work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, MAK Center for Art and Architecture in Los Angeles, NODE Frankfurt and others.
